I was excited to hear that I won First Place in TPS #20 International Competition with a new piece from Traces of Existence. Thank you, to juror Arno Rafael Minkkinen for selecting three additional photographs from the series for the exhibition. I’m also quite thrilled that my self-imposed deadline to complete my newest work by the end of the summer is indeed finished and available on my site as well as Afterimage Gallery and Wallspace Gallery. Many thanks to Tracy Martin, my friend, web designer and photographer extraordinaire for managing me- I mean my site. Thanks.

My new work is inspired by my commissioned trip to China last September and many personal losses. The following images are composed of layered imagery that have been drawn and painted upon, scanned and re-photographed under various conditions. They are not digital manipulations. I have discovered through trial and many errors that this new process is extremely cathartic. I will have the final series completed by the end of the summer but I wanted to share with you some new work. All the best!

Peripheral Visions: Surrealism in Contemporary Photography, is guest curated by Clayton Spada.

“The commonly held notion that Surrealism rests upon a foundation of madness runs contrary to the movement’s central philosophical tenet of embracing idiosyncrasy so as to develop methods to aid in the liberation of the full range of imagination,” said Spada.

The artists featured in the exhibition are Ray Carofano, Carol Golemboski, John Hesketh, Robert Johnson, Douglas McCulloh, Angela Bacon-Kidwell, Clark & Pougnaud, Douglas Prince and Jerry Uelsmann.

Thanks to Clayton Spada for including me in this exhibition. I’m truly honored. Below are a few installations shots of the exhibit at the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, CA.
